Tank specs explained by Rhadoo

I made this small guide in an attempt to ease the player's difficult decisions in choosing a tank that suits their needs. I do not think that it is foolproof and if you have some feedback for me, send it to rhadoo@blitz1941strategies.info

Tank specs can be found in the box to the left of the tank.

Tank Class

Basically, there are 4 tank classes in game:
  • Assault Gun
  • Tank Detroyer
  • Tank
  • Self-Propelled Gun (or SPG in short)
So, what's the difference between different tank classes? To put it short:

  • Assault Guns have great armor. Usually, the frontal armor is more thick that any other tank classes, making it suitable for frontal assaults, hence the tank class name.
  • Tank Destroyer have low armor and average speed, but they excel at one thing. When they do a critical shot, the damage is multiplied by 3 rather than 2 like the rest of the tan classes.
  • Tank, over all a good choice, moderate exp and moderate armor.
  • Self-Propelled Guns are useful as support for the other players. SPG's have great range, usually well beyond the player's sight range.

Boarding level

This criteria indicates the required player level in order to buy and use the tank. Please be careful that there are VP tank also (named this way because they require victory points to buy the tank), that require a certain military level (for ex: Captain 6). Do not confuse VP points with Premium tanks. They are 2 different entities.

Fire power

The damage dealt by the tank. Please note that it is used the following format ex: 545/4.23. The second figures indicate the reloading speed of the tank.

Attack power/sec

Attack power of the tank, obtained from dividing the firepower to the reloading speed of the tank.

Speed

The maximum speed of the tank. No need to explain this one.

Shell speed

Shell speed influences range, damage and chance of penetration. Basically, the highest, the better.

Shell capacity

The maximum number of shells that the tank can carry.

Duration

The life of the tank.

Front armor

The armor at the front of your tank. The front of your tank is the most armored. Always try to keep this side pointed at the enemy.
The number is displayed in the following format ex: 35@90, which means 35mm thick armor in a 90 degrees angle. Basically, the more armor thickness at a lower !!! angle is better. If you don't understand how armor works in Blitz1941, please see the guide pvtMartins' Tank Armor Comparison.

Side armor

The armor at the side of your tank. The side is less armored then the front but most of the time it's more armored then the rear of your tank. Only point this side to the enemy if you really have to.
Same stats apply as in the case of frontal armor.

Rear armor

The least armored part of your tank is the rear most of the time. I say "most of the time" because with some tanks, the side is the weakest. The German Pzkpfw 35t and its Russian counterpart the T-50, for example. Keep the rear turned away from the enemy at all times or your tank will blow up in seconds.
Same stats apply as in the case of frontal armor.

Expiration period

Premium tanks have a expiration period after which the tank is unusable. The tank WILL NOT DISAPPEAR from your inventory, but you cannot enter in the battlefield with it. So, you can take all your parts from the tank or you can keep it as a memory from past levels :).
If you try to sell the premium tank after the expiration period, you will receive an VP amount for it. If i'm correct, selling the T34-85 1945 (P) tank, I received around 12k in VP credits.

That's it. Hope this small guide will help you in choosing the right tank for you.
